More about Meander

The works presented in MEANDER reference urban landscapes and investigate the role of nature in our everyday lives.
The artist explores the concept of memories as threads woven into the fabric of time and the way in which they can create visual impact.
The horizontal lines transverse the space establishing boundaries adding a meditative quality to the work.

Like experiences accumulated over time, the layers of paint both cover and expose spaces that appear at irregular intervals over the canvas.
This ambiguity while playing within the concept of 2-dimensional space, creates a subtle movement between the tangible and intangible.
The spaces created are reminiscent of worn out threadbare patches found in fabrics, at the same time they allow the spectator a vista or a vision through a porthole of colour into another space beyond the pictorial frame.

Structural elements are seen to start to dissolve into merging brushstrokes of colour within a hazy light suffused surface.

The application of the paint is at the same time focused on the process of building surface and textural variation so that subtle differences and unpredictable resonances combine to create a dialogue between the works.
